Publishing Your Own Work

These pages are designed for undergraduates and other beginning writers as a preliminary guide to how and where they can seek publication of their original creative and scholarly works. Students are encouraged to speak with faculty with whom they've studied in the past, who can often suggest appropriate venues for publication.

Publishing your creative work
(literary fiction, literary non fiction, poetry, etc.)

Publishing your scholarly work
(articles, theses, undergraduate papers, etc.)

If you are interested in learning more about publishing non literary or scholarly works (e.g., popular fiction, children's books, freelance journalism, etc.), consider investigating courses and certificate programs offered by UW Professional and Continuing Education. Northwest Film Forum offers courses and workshops to those aiming for careers in screenwriting. Seattle Free Lances provides information and forums for freelance writers.
